The lessee and the driver must present a valid driver's license and an identity card or passport while receiving delivery of the vehicle.

To verify the validity of a driving licenses, the original driving license must be presented.

Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.

Driver's license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an international driver's license. For driver's licenses from countries not part of the international driver's license treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license.

Driver's licenses from non-EU countries (except Switzerland) are accepted if: a) no visa has been entered in the passport. b) the customer has a visa in his passport and at the time of hire has not been in Europe for longer than 6 months. If he has been in Europe for longer than 6 months, he must present a driver's license from an EU country.

Driving licences from the following countries are not recognised in Austria and can therefore not be accepted for renting a vehicle: Afghanistan, Angola, Antigua & Barbuda, Equatorial Guinea, Belize, Bermuda, Bhutan, Bolivia, Burundi, Cayman Islands, China (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan are accepted), Cook Islands, Costa Rica, Dominica, Djibouti, Eritrea, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), French Guyana, French Polynesia, Gabon, Gambia, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Indonesia, Yemen, Virgin Islands (American and British), Cameroon, Kiribati, Colombia, Comoros, Libya, Marshall Islands, Martinique, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mayotte, Micronesia, Montserrat, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nauru, Nepal, Netherlands. Caribbean Islands, New Caledonia, Nicaragua, North Korea, Panama, Puerto Rico, Reunion, Solomon Islands, Samoa (American), Samoa (West), Sao Tome & Principe, Somalia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenadine, Sudan, South Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Timor-Leste (East Timor), Tonga, Chad, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

Certain regulations apply related to minimum age and possession of driver's license which can be found during the booking process depending on the booked vehicle. Basically, the minimum age for every driver is 18 years (having held the driver's license for at least 1 day). A deviation from the minimum age is possible depending on the vehicle.

A young driver surcharge applies for drivers under 25 years.

Sixt accepts credit and debit cards as well as digital wallets by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, JCB and credit cards by China Union Pay. PayPal is accepted for prepaid bookings at selected locations. The use of PayPal and the PayPal website is subject to the applicable PayPal terms and conditions. A credit or debit card must be presented on pick-up of the vehicle to make a security deposit. The renter must be the PayPal account holder. Apple Digital wallet is accepted for Prepaid bookings, and Digital checkout at selected locations. Debit cards or prepaid cards cannot be used for payments via Apple Pay. The use of Apple Pay is subject to the applicable Apple terms and conditions. At pick up of the vehicle customers must either present a credit or debit card or use Apple Pay (if available) at the counter to make a security deposit. Prepaid cards cannot be accepted as a method of payment. Sixt only accepts Maestro/V PAY cards for the hiring of vans and trucks, as well as vehicles up to Group F*** (excluding Special Cars and Sports & Luxury Cars). Payment with a Maestro/V PAY card is not permitted for long-term hire. The method of payment must be issued in the name of a renter, presented upon collection of the vehicle, and be valid for at least another 30 days from this point in time. Sixt reserves the right to only accept credit card payments in combination with the PIN.

Sixt CarExpress Servicecard (Advantage Circle) is only accepted in combination with a valid means of payment.

Cash Payment is not accepted. Exceptions are valid for assistance rentals

As security, the means of payment is debited with a deposit amount (rental amount + EUR 200.00).

Prepaid rates are offered at cheaper prices than usual rental contracts. In return for these cheaper prices, the following special features apply with prepaid rates regarding payment and cancellation conditions:

The booking may be changed up to one hour before the scheduled beginning of the rental period. There will be a Booking Modification Fee of EUR 29.99 plus any difference between the original rate and the rate applicable to the adjusted rental period. A change from a prepaid rate to a non-prepaid rate is not possible.

A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of a cancellation, a cancellation fee will be charged to the rental advance payment already made. Cancellation fees will in no case exceed the total amount paid in advance. Cancellations prior to the scheduled start of the rental period will incur a cancellation fee of EUR 99. Any remaining prepaid amount in excess of EUR 99 will be refunded. Cancellations can be made online or in writing and must be addressed to:

Cancellations or changes made within 24 hours of booking can be completed free of charge, provided the scheduled pick-up time is more than 48 hours away.

In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full. More detailed information about pre-paid rates and exceptions to these terms can be found in our general terms and conditions.

The rented vehicle is insured against liability as per usual insurance in Austria as well as with the minimum insurance conditions valid for Austria. The insurance is limited to Europe in a geographical sense.

Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.

Loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.

If loss damage waiver is accepted, the customer is only responsible for the following amounts: EUR 1000,00 (V - S) or EUR 1.100,00 (W). In addition, a reduction of the deductible is possible.

In the event of willful or grossly negligent damage caused, the claim on the agreed fully comprehensive cover (incl. theft cover) shall lapse. You can find more information about these and other reasons for the lapse of the fully comprehensive cover under letter I. in our general rental conditions.

If no fully comprehensive cover (incl. theft cover) has been arranged or if this is not applicable in accordance with our valid general rental conditions (letter I.), the leaser is responsible for all damage to the car not proven to be caused by a third party and is liable up to the full value of the vehicle. If the leaser is a consumer within the meaning of the Consumer Protection Act, the leaser shall only be liable if it can be proven that the consumer is at fault.

By selecting interior protection, liability can be reduced to an excess of EUR 150 plus VAT in the event of contamination or damage to the vehicle interior.

By adding Personal Accident Insurance or Travel Personal Accident Insurance, cover can also be extended to the personal consequences of an accident. Further information is provided during the booking process or via the following link: Link

The tire and glass coverage provides protection for damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and the rear window with a deductible of EUR 0.00.

If no glass and tyre cover has been arranged, the leaser shall be liable for up to the full amount of the damage.

The vehicle selection can restrict travel to certain countries. For a description of these restrictions on admission, the countries are divided into four zones.

Zone I: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and Vatican

Zone II: Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia

Zone III: Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania

Zone IV: All countries that are not in zone I, II or III.

All transporters and trucks are only allowed to enter countries in zone I and II.

In the case of commercial use, the vehicle must not be used outside Austria.

Leaving the European continent is not permitted. This includes the Spanish exclaves of Ceuta & Melilla. The renter undertakes to comply with all official entry, exit and access authorisations.

The local transport of the vehicle by ferry and by motorail is permitted in compliance with the above-mentioned entry restrictions. Damage to the vehicle during the crossing will be covered according to the protection booked in the rental contract.

In case of offence against cross border and territorial restrictions all protections lose their validity. Only the protection from the liability insurance in accordance with the conditions of the international insurance card remains valid.

For travels into Andorra, Belgium, Denmark, Finnland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Great Britian, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and Vatican a charge applies. In case of a one-way rental to one of the above mentioned countries, the foreign use charge applies in addition to the one-way fee.

For travels into Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia a charge applies. In case of a one-way rental to one of the above mentioned countries, the foreign use charge applies in addition to the one-way fee.

If the desired one-way rental is possible, respective charges may apply.

In the case of unannounced and unauthorised one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.

Navigation systems and Android Auto / Apple Car Play are guaranteed to be available when booking.

A charge is levied for the additional driver, whose details are noted in the lease only if the additional driver presents a valid driver's license.

Baby seats, child seats and booster seats for children up to 12 years (61 to 150 cm) are guaranteed to be available if a booking is made.

"Erste Tankfüllung/Batterieladung" (Prepaid fuel/Prepaid charge): You can purchase the "Prepaid fuel/Prepaid charge" extra at the comparable fuel station price and thereby return the vehicle without a full fuel tank. In this case, you will not be charged any additional refuelling costs in accordance with the above paragraph. Please note that unused fuel will not be reimbursed.

Fuelling/Charging service: Subject to availability at the respective branch, you can book our "Fuelling/Charging service" at the specified price and thereby return the vehicle without a full fuel tank. In this case, you will only be charged for the subsequently fuelled litres of fuel at comparable fuel station prices, in addition to the above-mentioned fee.

If commercial vehicles are equipped with an additional AdBlue tank, the vehicle will be handed over to the renter with a full AdBlue tank for a rental period of more than 27 days and must also be returned in this way, otherwise we will take over the re-fuelling of the vehicle after return under the conditions currently available at the station. If the rental period is less than 28 days, the renter will be charged a fee of 3,6 ct (VAT incl.) per kilometre driven.

Alternatively, you may purchase a tankful of fuel at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.

Sack barrows, dolly trolleys, load-securing straps, packing covers, adhesive tape and removal boxes are subject to availability.

Deliveries and collections are available at the local rental station subject to a fee.

This service is available on request for an additional commitment fee outside opening times at selected locations.

Surcharge personal address For delivery to or collection from an address that is not an official company location of the customer (e.g. private or hotel address), a surcharge of 10.00 EUR will be levied in addition to the collection/delivery fee. If applicable, the fee is not yet due at the time of reservation, but only at the start of the rental.

Winter gear such as antifreeze and winter-proof tires will be available subject to a fee.

A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.

Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.

There will be a road tax, which is included in the rent.

A contract fee of 1% of the total net amount will be charged, if the total gross amount of the car rental bill surpasses EUR 150.00.

As a flexible mobility partner, we adapt to your plans subject to availability. Please inform us of any changes to your plans during the rental period by calling +43 (0) 1 505 26 40 00 or directly at one of our numerous branches. As far as possible for us, we will adjust the rental agreement with the help of our staff. In addition to fees arising from the modification (e.g. extra days / different return location), we charge a handling fee of EUR 5.00 per modification process for changes made to the return date, return time or return location. Alternatively, you have the option to waive the handling fee for rental changes at your SIXT station when picking up the rental car for a service fee of EUR 3.00 . If you do not inform us of your intended rental changes, the following service fees will be charged:

If you return your vehicle before the end of the agreed rental period, we will charge the rental price in accordance with the rental agreement. If the vehicle is returned more than two days before the end of the agreed rental period, you will receive a partial discount for the unused rental days.

When booking at a prepaid rate, a refund shall not be issued for returned early. For further information please refer to the section Prepaid Tariff - Pay now.

If you return the vehicle later than agreed in the rental agreement, extra days or additional hours may be charged due to the rental extension. If you do not inform us about the rental extension, we will charge an additional service fee of max. EUR 28.80 for the Flexi Return service.

If you return the vehicle to a station other than that agreed in the rental contract, the Flexi Return location will incur a service fee of max. EUR 39.99 if we have not been informed of the changes to the rental contract in advance.

All rates are inclusive of VAT (if VAT incurs). For corporate customers with individual agreements alternative prices and regulations can apply.
